SAN FRANCISCO—As California faces devastating wildfires, rising flood risk, and a destabilizing home insurance market, the role of the Insurance Commissioner's office has never been more consequential. Ceres is proud to moderate an in-person forum as part of SF Climate Week. . The forum will bring together California Insurance Commissioner candidates for a unique conversation on the future of insurance in the world's fourth-largest economy. Hosted in partnership with California Forward, Extreme Weather Survivors, The Greenlining Institute, and United Policyholders, the discussion will put climate resilience, affordability, and market stability at the center of the 2026 Insurance Commissioner race.

In January 2025, Los Angeles experienced a devastating wildfire, costing some 61.2 billion in damages, making it the costliest wildfire on record and leaving the state-run insurer with billions of dollars in exposure.
