Karen leads research on Ceres' strategy to address the material financial risks of nature and biodiversity loss, including deforestation, and support of Nature Action 100, a global investor-led engagement initiative. She also manages strategic partnerships with NGOs, funders, and other organizations around the world to amplify and accelerate global efforts to tackle nature-related challenges.
Karen has over 15 years of experience working on global forest conservation and corporate sustainability. Prior to joining Ceres, she held a wide range of roles at World Wildlife Fund, leading research efforts to support companies and communities to implement sustainable forest management and responsible sourcing of forest products. She also led the development of strategies and monitoring systems to support global forest program development.
Karen is a frequent speaker at major climate and nature events, including Climate Week New York City and the UN Biodiversity Conferences, and is fluent in English, Chinese, and Japanese. She has co-authored numerous publications related to forest conservation, and holds a master’s degree in International Development Studies with a focus on sustainability from George Washington University, and a bachelor’s degree in International Relations with a focus on development economics, from Mount Allison University.
