Jane leads Ceres’ environmental, equity and climate justice policy efforts at the state and federal level. In their role, Jane engages and educates companies and investors on how to adopt an equity lens so they can be advocates for social and environmental justice in their own right. 

Prior to joining Ceres, Jane worked for Sierra Club as a Beyond Dirty Fuels campaign representative aiming to keep fossil fuels in the ground in Texas and the broader Gulf Coast by pivoting the region towards clean, abundant, and affordable renewable energy. In addition, they worked for over five years for the California state government on environmental justice legislation and regulation with a focus on solid and hazardous waste. 

A first generation, queer Ghanaian-American born to working-class immigrant parents,
Jane earned their Doctorate of Philosophy in Biomedical Sciences in 2014, with emphases in Pharmacology, Toxicology, and Physiology, from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN. A two-time historically Black college/university (HBCU) graduate, they also received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in Princess Anne, MD, where they found their voice and fighting spirit. Jane is also a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated.
