Mara is a communications manager at Ceres. She leads communications planning and coordination, content and message development, and media relations and outreach for the climate and energy team. She works to elevate the expertise and voices of Ceres experts and investor and corporate network members leading efforts to decarbonize the oil and gas, electric power, steel and transportation sectors.
Before joining Ceres, Mara worked as a journalist, reporting on energy and natural resources in Wyoming. She won statewide awards for science reporting, government issue reporting and investigative reporting. Her freelance work has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, USA Today and espnW. Mara earned her bachelor’s degree in economics from Whitman College.
Still an avid bike commuter, Mara is a former professional cyclist. She is a multi-time U.S. national champion, two-time winner of the women’s Giro d’Italia and finished fourth in the road race at the 2016 Olympic Games.
