|CERES ROADMAP VISION
|Companies will systematically minimize their sustainability impact by enhancing the resiliency of their logistics, companies will prioritize low impact transportation systems and modes, and address business travel and commuting.
Check out Roadmap in Action for examples of how companies are implementing the Transportation expectations of the Ceres Roadmap.
With U.S. emissions related to transportation hovering around 30 percent,22 boosting efficiencies across transportation and logistics is a critical opportunity for meeting emission reduction targets, but also for reducing operating costs. Whether a company maintains its own vehicle fleet or outsources logistics to a third-party, there should be management systems in place to monitor the environmental performance of the entire transportation network.
HOW ARE COMPANIES PERFORMING?
For this first report it was not possible to capture all of the data required to fully assess all of The Ceres Roadmap expectations. For some Ceres Roadmap expectations, companies are not yet consistently disclosing the information needed to assess their progress and in other cases, we did not have access to the type of data needed to adequately assess corporate progress.
In this section, using data compiled and analyzed by Sustainalytics, we were able to assess the progress of five sectors--Automotive & Transportation, Food & Beverage, Footwear & Apparel, Retail
and Technology Hardware--
for the Transportation Management
We will be looking at additional indicators in the future to capture the meaning of the expectations more completely and will develop new indicators to capture data as it is more readily disclosed by companies.
