Statement from Ceres President Mindy Lubber on Nomination of Gina McCarthy as EPA Administrator
This morning, President Barack Obama officially nominated Gina McCarthy to serve as administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency. In response, Ceres President Mindy Lubber offered the following statement:
“Gina has been a smart and effective leader in developing sensible policies that not only reduce harmful pollution but also drive market certainty, new investments and job creation. Ceres was delighted to see Gina’s thoughtful and effective advocacy for clean air standards in the past several years. She will be a tremendous asset in helping to deliver strong policies that will reduce pollution, combat climate change and spur investment in the growing clean energy economy.”
A recent Ceres report found that investments driven by two new clean air rules would create nearly 1.5 million jobs, across a wide array of skilled construction and professional jobs who would build and retrofit power plants across the United States.
