Business for Innovative Climate & Energy Policy today announced that Ohio-based Limited Brands is the newest retailer to join BICEP and commit to working with businesses and policymakers to enact meaningful energy and climate policies.

Limited Brands, which employs more than 90,000 associates worldwide, is parent company to Victoria’s Secret, Bath & Body Works, La Senza and Henri Bendel.

“Limited Brands is committed to conducting our business in an environmentally responsible manner,” said Greg Cunningham, associate vice president environment, health, safety, and sustainability. “We’ve implemented an environmental sustainability program and established thoughtful partnerships that are helping us achieve that goal. We applaud the steadfast work of BICEP and are proud to join their efforts as we all work together to protect and safeguard the environment for current and future generations."

BICEP, a project of Ceres, launched in 2008 with a core group of five companies, including Starbucks, Nike and Levi Strauss. & Co.  It has since expanded to include leading companies representing the personal products, , IT, sports and real estate sectors such as Avon, Symantec, Jones Lang LaSalle and the Portland Trail Blazers.

“We welcome Limited Brands to BICEP and recognize the important contribution that credible, experienced businesses bring to shaping meaningful climate and energy policies that will drive investment, deliver savings, create jobs and reduce emissions,” said Mindy S. Lubber, president of Ceres. “The continued growth of the BICEP coalition is testament to the critical nature of the work that is being done and the challenges that remain.”

Limited Brands, which has been reporting to the Climate Disclosure Project since 2007, has a longstanding commitment to climate disclosure and was added to the CDP Leadership Index in September 2009.   The company is well on its way to meeting its 2007 goal of reducing its overall greenhouse gas emissions by 3% by 2014.  As part of its commitment to deliver energy savings and pollution reduction, the company is building more efficient stores and introducing energy efficiency measures into its existing stores, including new lighting projects across 900 stores and adjusting temperature set points across many others, with a resulting reduction in carbon emissions of more than 35,000 metric tons.
