Manager of Sustainable Initiatives, Partners HealthCare
Hubert Murray is Manager of Sustainable Initiatives for Partners HealthCare Inc in Boston. His work includes sustainable policy and implementation relating to the built environment, energy, water, waste, transportation, and purchasing throughout the twelve hospitals in the Partners system.
He was advisor to the design team for the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in the Charleston Navy Yard on LEED certification and the longer term resilience of the building in the event of climate change and sea level rise. Mr. Murray is currently participating in the formulation of a risk management and resiliency strategy for the Partners system.
For most of his career Mr. Murray has worked in private architectural practice concentrating on educational buildings, campus planning and the architecture and urban design of major infrastructure projects, including Boston’s Central Artery for which he was Chief Architect. He has taught at MIT and Northeastern University and writes on regional and urban planning issues.
Hubert Murray was educated in England and has practiced in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and for the last twenty eight years in the United States. He is a former president of the Boston Society of Architects and is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects.
