During its 25 years, Ceres has created some of the key building blocks for integrating environmental and social challenges within core business practices. In 1997, Ceres created the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), now the international standard for sustainability reporting used by thousands of companies worldwide. In 2010, Ceres released The 21st Century Corporation: The Ceres Roadmap for Sustainability, which lays out the vision and path for building a truly sustainable corporation in the 21st Century. Since then, Ceres has regularly published progress reports that assess how well the largest companies in the U.S. are doing to meet the expectations in The Ceres Roadmap.

Increasingly, investors are recognizing and taking action on environmental and social sustainability issues that pose material business risks that could ultimately undermine long-term shareholder value. Ceres is uniquely positioned at the nexus of the investor, business and advocacy communities—bringing together these important perspectives to help companies better realize the competitive advantage of smart sustainable strategies.

“We think of Ceres as a thought leader but also as an organization that really understands the complexities of what it is to run a business on a day-to-day basis. The solution sets and frameworks that Ceres puts on the table are pragmatic and business savvy.”

- Hannah Jones, Vice President of Innovation Accelerator & CSO, Nike
