Mars Announces Major Wind Purchase toward 100% Renewable Energy
Your favorite chocolate will soon be powered by wind electricity. Mars, Incorporated recently announced that the company has purchased a 200MW wind farm in Texas that will be fully operational by 2015. That’s enough power to make 13 billion Snickers bars. The new wind power will make Mars the first major U.S. food company to operate their facilities with 100% renewable energy. The investment is part of Mars’ goal of being “sustainable in a generation”. Brad Figel, Vice President of Public Affairs at Mars, shared the announcement at the BICEP Breakfast at the Ceres Conference and shared the video below.
