BICEP Coalition Letter Urges Senators to Oppose S.J Res. 26
We are writing to express our deep concerns about Senate consideration of S.J.Res 26, a resolution to enjoin EPA from taking any action on regulating carbon.
Business for Innovative Climate and Energy Policy (BICEP) companies have worked in broad coalition for passage of comprehensive climate and energy legislation because we believe it is critical to our ongoing business and critical to job creation and innovation in the United States.
It is important to underscore that we have always believed strongly that Congress should lead on setting climate and energy policy for the United States and this should not be done through an administrative or regulatory process. However, we believe that significant legislative progress is being made and feel that consideration of this resolution now, is a distraction and will jeopardize and hinder progress toward this goal.
We therefore urge you to oppose [or support a motion to table] this resolution and urge you to remain focused on the vital task of passing comprehensive climate and energy legislation that will create jobs, cut pollution, and secure our nation and send it to the President for his signature this year.
