Supporting the Wind Production Tax Credit Extension

Wind TurbineOn September 18, 2012, members of BICEP and other major brands, including several Fortune 500 firms, wrote to Congressional leaders encouraging them to extend the Production Tax Credit (PTC),, a key provision supporting renewable energy. The letter sends a message to policymakers that a broad cross-section of U.S. companies are increasingly relying on inexpensive and abundant American wind energy to power their businesses.

Supporting EPA’s Authority to Regulate Greenhouse Gas Emissions

EPA BuildingOn March 28, 2011 BICEP Companies authored a letter urging Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and the United States Senate to oppose any efforts to block or delay the EPA’s authority to regulate greenhouse gases. While BICEP ultimately believes that Congress should pass comprehensive climate legislation, until such legislation is signed into law BICEP argued that the EPA’s legitimate authority should not be constrained. Clean Energy Standard (CES)

Obama Clean Energy StandardIn March 2011, Senate Energy and Natural Resource Committee Chairman Jeff Bingaman (D-NM) and Ranking Member Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) released a white paper seeking public comments on President Obama’s proposed clean energy standard. In accordance with its key principles, BICEP submitted its response calling for a clean energy standard while reiterating the need for comprehensive climate and energy legislation. California BICEP Companies Urge No on Prop. 23

No on Prop 23On September 29, 2010 BICEP’s California based companies, Levi Strauss & Co., eBay Inc., Symantex, Clif Bar & Company, and The North Face took a public stand against California’s Proposition 23 ballot initiative. Proposition 23, which would have delayed AB 32, California’s landmark pollution and clean energy law, they argued would have seriously harmed the clean-energy job market in California and the US. Thanks to business, investor and public pressure against this initiative, Proposition 23 ultimately failed and California is now looking to implement AB 32. Read more...
