Joseph is the Senior Advisor in the Electric Power Program at Ceres. In this capacity, Joseph supports the Electric Power Program to help transition the electric power sector toward a low-carbon, sustainable industry by addressing its environmental and social impacts, with a primary focus on addressing climate change.
Prior to coming to Ceres, Joseph worked as an environmental consultant for TechLaw specializing in corporate carbon management and held various positions at National Grid including Head of Climate Change and Vice President of Environment. While at National Grid, Joseph conceived and implemented its greenhouse gas reduction strategy, which included an 80% reduction in GHG emissions, a linking of GHG reduction targets to executive compensation (carbon budgets) and utilization of a price of carbon in financial decision-making across the company. He is also a Director of the New Hampshire Electric Cooperative and a Trustee of the Mount Washington Observatory.
Joseph holds a Masters of Science in Environmental Engineering from the University of Massachusetts and Bachelors of Arts in Geology from the University of Connecticut.

Cape Wind Project is a Good Deal for Massachusetts
The Cape Wind project has received two positive jolts in recent weeks. First came the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court decision upholding a long-term power agreement for National Grid to purchase half of Cape Wind’s 454 megawatts of wind power for at least 15 years. Yesterday the second came – Massachusetts regulators gave final approval to a merger between NStar and Northeast Utilities.
