Shelley Alpern leads Ceres’ cross-organizational and external efforts to drive greater corporate ESG disclosure. She and her team engage companies, investors, stock exchanges, securities regulators and other key stakeholders to drive “decision friendly” disclosure, promote best practices, and help develop Ceres’ positions on key issues such as ESG standards development and materiality. Prior to joining Ceres in 2017, Shelley led ESG research and shareholder engagement efforts at two leading sustainability investment firms, Clean Yield Asset Management and Trillium Asset Management. She is the recipient of the socially responsible investment industry’s SRI Award and the Silent Spring Institute’s Rachel Carson Award. Shelley sits on the board of the Center for Political Accountability. Shelley holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Texas.
