Dawn M. Martin joined Ceres as its Chief Operating Officer in 2015. In this capacity, she oversees programs, events and communications for Ceres with a focus on integration, alignment and collaboration to enhance organizational performance.

With 30 years experience working for social change, Dawn has led numerous initiatives aimed at leveraging the market’s influence to support strong environmental, social and human rights policies within government and boardrooms by promoting both the economic and social value of corporate responsibility.

Before joining Ceres, Dawn was the President of SeaWeb and served as the Chief Operating Officer for Oceana and as the Political Director for American Oceans Campaign. She also served as Associate Deputy Administrator for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

As the Treasurer and Vice-Chair of the Board, Dawn serves as a Trustee for the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation and sits on the Board of Directors for The Ocean Foundation and SeaWeb, in addition to other advisory and editorial boards.

Dawn received her Juris Doctorate from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles and her undergraduate degree in Political Science, with a minor in Business Administration from Loyola Marymount University. Her law degree includes an emphasis in international human rights and humanitarian law with certificates from the Institute of International and Comparative Law and the International Institute of Human Rights in Strasbourg, France, as well as the Henri Dunant Institute in Geneva, Switzerland.
