Ceres is a nonprofit organization mobilizing business and investor leadership on climate change, water scarcity and other sustainability challenges. Ceres directs the Investor Network on Climate Risk (INCR), a network of over 120 institutional investors with collective assets totaling more than $14 trillion. Ceres also directs Business for Innovative Climate & Energy Policy (BICEP), an advocacy coalition of nearly 40 businesses committed to working with policy makers to pass meaningful energy and climate legislation. The Ceres Company Network includes over 60 corporations working to improve their performance and governance for sustainability.

Development Assistant

The Development Assistant will be part of a 10-person team and will support both foundation and individual giving activities. The Development Assistant will report to the Chief Development Officer (CDO) and also provide administrative support to this position. This full-time job, based in Boston, MA, is an excellent entry-level position for an individual with an interest in the fields of fundraising and climate change/sustainability.
Manager, Ceres Roadmap, Corporate Program (new position)

The Corporate Program Team is seeking a Manager to implement the vision of the Ceres Roadmap and support the integration of ESG issues into the business strategies and decision-making of companies within and outside the Ceres Company Network. The Manager needs to be a savvy project manager, communicator and strategic thinker that will help to develop and realize Ceres strategy for increasing the uptake of the Ceres Roadmap by both companies and investors.
Database Administrator (Salesforce)

The Database Administrator manages the Ceres’ organizational database, implemented on the Salesforce.com platform. He/she serves as the manager of the system, implementing best practices and training staff to use the system. This role is a resource for staff, answering questions, running queries and making updates to the system. The administrator also carries out daily maintenance functions on the system to ensure clean and current data. The database is used to track our individual and organizational partners, donors and prospects, e-newsletter recipients, action items and more. The Salesforce database integrates with Ceres’ website as part of a comprehensive, data-centric approach to our work. This position reports directly to the Senior Department Director of Human Resources and Operations. This job is an opportunity for an organized, detail-oriented, energetic, and trustworthy individual to work with program staff across Ceres. This is a full-time position based in Boston, MA.
Director, Investor Initiative for Sustainable Exchanges, (IISE) Investor Program

This position will primarily focus on leading our work with global stock exchanges on implementing reporting standards by listed companies on sustainability performance and related corporate ESG reporting initiatives. This is a full-time staff position, based in our Boston office, and will report to the Senior Program Director, Investor Program.

This position, in partnership with the Director, focuses on building and managing the Investor Network on Climate Risk (INCR), coordinated by Ceres, which is a network of more than 110 institutional investors with $13.5 trillion in assets under management. The work with investors is supporting the Food and Capital Markets Initiative, a new multi-organization collaboration working to enhance the sustainability of key food supply chains. Ceres responsibilities as part of this program involve working with Ceres’ Investor, Corporate, NGO, and Policy partners. This is a full-time staff position, based in Boston, MA, that will report to the Director of Investor Engagement.

The Senior Manager, Investor Initiative for Sustainable Exchanges (ISSE) position is a full-time role, reporting to the Director of the Investor Initiative on Sustainable Exchanges Project. This role will support the Food and Capital Markets Initiative, a new multi-organization collaboration working to enhance the sustainability of key food supply chains. This position will focus on global stock exchanges adopting listing requirements and mandatory sustainability reporting as a lever to drive sustainability of key food supply chains. Ceres responsibilities as part of this program involve working with Ceres’ Investor, Corporate, NGO, and Policy partners. Candidates should have specific expertise in sustainability disclosure standards and investor engagement to help lead our work with stock exchanges. This role will be based in Boston, MA.
Senior Manager, Corporate Governance (new position)

The Senior Manager, Corporate Governance position is a full-time role, reporting to the Senior Director of the Corporate Program. The Senior Manager will support Ceres’ project on corporate governance which encourages companies and investors to put in place strong systems to assess, manage, and make informed decisions on sustainability issues. The project engages corporate directors, executives, and investors around the role of board directors on sustainability performance and oversight. This role will be based in Boston, MA.
Senior Associate, Carbon Asset Risk (CAR) Initiative

Ceres is hiring a Senior Associate, Carbon Asset Risk Initiative, to provide critical writing, research and administrative support as part of Ceres’ Carbon Asset Risk Initiative team. The Senior Associate will play a key role in our work with investors and companies to materially ramp up research, analysis and communications to support the Carbon Asset Risk Initiative. Job responsibilities will include coordination with investors and partners with regard to their engagements with companies, policymakers, and regulators. Many of the investors who will be involved in this effort are part of the Investor Network on Climate Risk (INCR). Members include state treasurers, pension funds, foundations, socially responsible asset managers, and religious institutional investors, among others. The Senior Associate will also coordinate with partners and collaborators including the Global Investor Coalition on Climate Change (GIC), Carbon Tracker Initiative and others, as well as financial analysts, proxy advisory firms, credit ratings agencies, and regulators to raise the profile of Carbon Asset Risk. This is a full-time staff position, based in our Boston office, and will report to the Senior Manager of the Carbon Asset Risk Initiative.
